Glocal LifeLearn e.V.
What is the project about?
Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world. The country's rural areas in particular continue to be severely affected by poverty, even though poverty figures have generally declined in recent years. This includes the district of Bukedea in eastern Uganda in the Teso region, which is one of the poorest regions in the country.
Poverty can only be fought constantly if sustainable perspectives are offered that enable an independent and self-determined life in the long term.
Through sustainable educational initiatives, the non-profit association Glocal Life Learn e.V. supports young people from poor backgrounds in permanently improving their life situations.
TAKE ACTION - The sponsorship programme for vocational training in Uganda - is a programme of the association, which promotes vocational training for young adults in the Bukedea District in Uganda.
Many young people fall out of the formal school system even before they finish primary school.
Due to the often very poor backgrounds from which many young people come, they cannot continue their school education from a very young age. As a result, they often remain unemployed. Young women, young mothers and people with disabilities are particularly affected. The TAKE ACTION sponsorship programme at the partner school BUYOPA-BVC (Bukedea Vocational Skills Training Centre) pays the school fees for a 15-month vocational training course, enabling young people to complete technical vocational training.
